| Today
during watering my home's lawn I observed that switchboard and plug via which
electricity was going to motor was not looking in good condition. There was rust
like mark on base of the plug and switch button of the switchboard was also a
little hard to operate. During every watering session I need to close and open
motor switch for moving water pipe from one place to another place at least one
time. Today on that occasion when I tried to OFF the switch button I found it
stuck. I was surprised and a little panicked. Then I applied a little more power
and button moved and motor stopped. After moving water pipe to it's next
location when I tried to ON the switch button I found it stuck again and this
time again I applied some force to turn it on. By applying force I found that
button become loose and started to on, off on it's own. Then I tried and set it
to position of ON. At end of session when I switched off the motor I found
switch button merely attached to it's proper position.

Now I started thinking about replacing switchboard and plug for water
motor myself. After some thinking about timing to do this work at around PST
11:30 PM I decided to do it right then. Therefore I immediately went to shop
purchased one switchboard and one plug for Rs 150 and came back. On return I
went to my room, collected tools needed for the task and came outside to the
place of work. Then I arranged all tools and switchboard and plug together and
took some photos of them.

After that I tried to remove plug from switchboard and found that it was
almost jammed there. After some effort I was able to remove plug from switch
board. Because of some malfunction plug was heated and melted and fused with
switchboard. Again I took some photos of switchboard and plug. During opening
and removing switchboard and plug I made sure that I understand circuit.

Then I attached wires from mains to switchboard and wires from motor to plug. It
took me a lot of time in fixing wires to switchboard. Red wire in the following
set is the one I used for internal connection in switchboard. I took some more photos of
current status. I forgot to take photos of switchboard after attaching internal
wire and main wires to it. I used back cover of my mobile for making red wire more
visible in photo. |

During attaching switchboard to it's place I found that screws were shorter
and thinner then required and so were loose to fit. Therefore I went to my room
and brought back box of screws and found a screw of right size and used it for
fixing switchboard to it's place. Then I fixed plug in switchboard. Now I took some more
photos of finished work.

But because by now electricity in our area was no longer available,
because of un-wanted load shading, so I was not able to test my experiment.
Therefore this adventure ended a little earlier on around PST 01:41 PM. In the
evening when electricity came back I tested newly installed switch and plug and
they worked correctly. I let motor run until our overhead water tank becomes
full. |

I used following chair during work for sitting. I did this mostly for avoiding sitting on floor of car poarch.
Water motor and it's switchboard are in our car poarch. |

plug during their test on adventure day therefore I took photos of switchboard
and plug today while motor was running. |

| Note: Experience was again very enjoyable as ever before and it brought old memories back when
I used to do these type of things often. |
